Outside
Medanta in Gurugram, Samoon's founder, Mr. Vinod Singh, was having breakfast
when two young boys approached him, asking, "Sir, can you get your shoes
polished?" Mr. Vinod Singh replied, "I don't need my shoes polished,
but would you like some breakfast?" The boys said they didn't want
breakfast but asked for flour, explaining that they had an elderly grandmother
at home for whom they would make bread.
Mr. Vinod Singh asked where their
parents were, and the boys replied that their parents
had left them with their grandmother and that they lived in a makeshift
hut, taking care of her. Mr. Vinod Singh was compelled to reflect on how any
parent could leave their children behind.
He invited the boys to have breakfast with him and then took them to a nearby store where he provided them with the
necessary rations. After that, he booked an auto to take them home. The boys invited
Mr. Vinod Singh to their
hut for a meal, but due to his
busy schedule, he couldn't go,
although he genuinely wished he could.
The brief
encounter felt like a long-standing connection with the children, and their
faces radiated joy and peace. Moments like these remind us to share small joys
with others, and believe me, the inner happiness you receive cannot be
expressed in words.
