Support Appeal for Sumitra Devi Ji and Her Family

The beautiful Garhwali song by Negi Ji, which describes the strength, patience, and struggles of mountain women, perfectly reflects the life of Smt. Sumitra Devi Ji. Like many hardworking women of the hills, she has been facing difficult circumstances with courage while supporting her disabled husband and raising her children through daily wage labour.
Smt. Sumitra Devi Ji, 45 years old, a resident of Village Bada, Patti Idwalsyun Pisoli, District Pauri Garhwal, belongs to a very poor family and has been forced to live a life full of struggles and hardships.
Her husband, Shri Vinod Lal Ji, aged 50 years, is physically disabled. He has lost one leg, faces difficulties with his other leg, and also suffered a serious injury to his hand finger which resulted in infection throughout his hand. Due to financial difficulties, the family is unable to afford his proper treatment.
Along with the responsibility of raising and educating her four daughters and one son who is studying in Class 10, the complete responsibility of caring for her disabled husband and managing the household has now fallen on Sumitra Devi Ji.
A woman of great determination and self-reliance, Sumitra Devi Ji has never given up despite facing continuous challenges. Whenever she gets work through daily wages, labour, loading work, or MGNREGA, she works hard to earn a livelihood and support her family.
With the help of loans and bank credit, Sumitra Devi Ji managed to get three of her daughters married. However, due to the COVID-19 situation, the marriage of her fourth daughter could not be completed. Unable to repay the bank loan, she has appealed for support so that she can manage expenses related to her daughter’s marriage, loan repayment, husband’s treatment, house renovation, and children’s education.

सुमित्रा देवी जी एवं उनके परिवार हेतु सहायता की अपील

नेगी जी का यह खूबसूरत गीत पहाड़ की नारी के संघर्ष, त्याग और हिम्मत को दर्शाता है और यह गीत सुमित्रा देवी जी के जीवन पर बिल्कुल सटीक बैठता है। सुमित्रा देवी जी जैसी मेहनती, स्वावलंबी और संघर्षशील महिला कठिन परिस्थितियों में भी अपने विकलांग पति और बच्चों का पालन-पोषण करने के लिए निरंतर मेहनत कर रही हैं।
ग्राम बाड़ा, पट्टी इडवालस्यूं पिसोली, जिला पौड़ी गढ़वाल निवासी 45 वर्षीय सुमित्रा देवी जी अत्यंत निर्धन परिवार से हैं और बहुत ही संघर्षपूर्ण एवं कठिन परिस्थितियों में जीवन यापन करने को मजबूर हैं।
सुमित्रा जी के पति श्री विनोद लाल जी (उम्र 50 वर्ष) पूर्ण रूप से विकलांग हैं। उनका एक पैर नहीं है और दूसरे पैर में भी गंभीर समस्या है। इसके अलावा हाथ की उंगली में लगी गंभीर चोट के कारण पूरे हाथ में संक्रमण हो गया है, जिसका इलाज करवाने में परिवार आर्थिक रूप से असमर्थ है।
चार बेटियों और कक्षा 10 में पढ़ने वाले एक बेटे की परवरिश एवं शिक्षा की जिम्मेदारी के साथ-साथ अब पूर्ण रूप से विकलांग पति की देखभाल और परिवार की पूरी जिम्मेदारी भी सुमित्रा देवी जी के कंधों पर आ गई है।
जीवन में अनेक कठिनाइयों के बावजूद सुमित्रा देवी जी ने कभी हार नहीं मानी। जब भी गांव में ध्याड़ी मजदूरी, पल्लेदारी या मनरेगा के अंतर्गत काम मिलता है, वह पूरी मेहनत से कार्य करती हैं और उसी से अपने परिवार का पालन-पोषण कर रही हैं।
सुमित्रा देवी जी ने कर्ज एवं बैंक से लोन लेकर अपनी तीन बेटियों की शादी कर दी है, लेकिन कोरोना महामारी के कारण चौथी बेटी की शादी नहीं हो पाई। बैंक से लिए गए लोन को चुकाने में असमर्थ सुमित्रा देवी जी ने सभी मानवता प्रेमियों से सहयोग की अपील की है, ताकि बेटी की शादी, बैंक का ऋण, पति के इलाज, घर के जीर्णोद्धार एवं बच्चों की पढ़ाई में कुछ सहायता मिल सके।
