On *August 28, 2022*, the *Samoon Foundation* received a request letter from *Shakuntala Devi*, a resident of *Village Simkhet, Post Office Paunv, Patti Ghurdausayon, Pauri Garhwal*. Following her husband's passing due to a heart attack, the family has encountered numerous hardships. Shakuntala Devi is facing challenges in providing proper nurturing, nutrition, and education to her children. She has sought support from the Samoon Foundation for her children's education.

Under its scholarship program, the Samoon Foundation extended assistance for the education of Shakuntala Devi's two children, Krishna Kant and Kirti Kant. Recognizing education as a precious gift, an appeal was made via social media for those willing to contribute to support this family. 

Responding promptly, the organization issued a cheque of *Rs. 3,000 each* for the education of both *Krishna Kant and Kirti Kant*, ensuring continued assistance for their educational needs in the future. 

Shakuntala Devi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Samoon Foundation and lauded the organization's impactful social work. 

For several years, the Samoon Foundation has been dedicated to educating economically disadvantaged children. Each year, the foundation supports the education of selected children from underprivileged backgrounds by awarding them a scholarship of *₹3,000*, fostering their educational pursuits.

Mr. *Pramod Vyas*, a resident of *Dhalwala*, used to support his family by working as a priest. Everything was going well until he was involved in a road accident in *2015*. While he survived, he was left paralyzed on one side of his body, making him unable to work. Due to the responsibilities of educating and providing for his three children, Mr. Vyas reached out to the *Samoon Foundation* for assistance. 

In response, the Samoon Foundation provided a *total cheque of ₹9,000* for the education of all three children.

*Gautam Singh Bhandari*, a resident of *village Badal, Tehri Garhwal*, was working as a cook at a rafting camp when a sudden flood caused by a cloudburst swept him away while he was cooking on *August 7*. Some of his colleagues managed to save themselves, but Gautam did not get a chance to escape and fell victim to this calamity. After extensive searching, his body was found stuck in a tree about one and a half kilometers away.

Gautam Bhandari Ji leaves behind his *wife and an innocent two-and-a-half-year-old son*. The family now faces overwhelming challenges and worries about their future. *Mr. Hukam Singh Bhandari*, the former head of the village, has sent a request for help to the *Samoon Foundation*.

We appeal to all those who can extend their support to the family according to their means.

The Samoon team delivered three months' worth of rations and a box to Ramdhan Ji, who lives in a hut in the forest.

*Ramdhan Ji*, a resident of village *Tat, Rudraprayag*, is *72-years-old* and has no children or family. He lives alone in a small hut in the middle of the forest with his buffalo. 

Ramdhan Ji mentioned that repairing his house wouldn't be of much use, but if he could get a box to store his food supplies, it would be a great help, as wild animals like monkeys, rats, and cats often eat whatever food he has.

The *Samoon team* took immediate action on Ramdhan Ji's request and delivered a *box along with rations for the next 2-3 months* to his home.

रामधन जी ने बताया कि उनके घर की मरम्मत करवाना ज्यादा उपयोगी नहीं होगा, लेकिन यदि उन्हें अपना खाद्य सामग्री रखने के लिए एक डिब्बा मिल जाए तो बहुत मदद होगी, क्योंकि बंदर, चूहे और बिल्लियों जैसे जंगली जानवर अक्सर उनका खाना खा जाते हैं।

Mr. Vinod Singh Jethudi, the founder of Samoon, bought sandals for a poor boy walking barefoot.

While leaving for some work in *Rishikesh*, founder *Mr. Vinod Singh Jethudi* noticed a little boy walking barefoot in the pouring rain, struggling to walk. He called out, "Hey little one, what's wrong? Why are you walking like that?" 

The boy turned around and stopped. When Mr. Jethudi approached him, the boy explained that small stones on the road were hurting his feet.

Mr. Jethudi asked, "Why aren't you wearing sandals?" The boy replied, "I don't have money to buy sandals. After my father's death, my mother barely earns enough to buy groceries, so I walk without them."

Mr. Jethudi then asked, "If I buy you sandals, will you wear them?" The boy quickly said yes and led him to a nearby shop, where Mr. Jethudi bought him a pair of sandals. As the boy ran off wearing them, his joy was palpable, as if Mr. Jethudi had given him a precious gift worth millions.

Mr. Jethudi felt a deep sense of happiness and wanted to share this experience, hoping others would also help those in need around them and feel a unique sense of self-satisfaction.

श्री जेठूड़ी जी ने पूछा, "तुम चप्पल क्यों नहीं पहनते?" लड़के ने जवाब दिया, "मेरे पास चप्पल खरीदने के पैसे नहीं हैं। पिताजी के देहांत के बाद माँ मुश्किल से घर का राशन जुटा पाती हैं, इसलिए मैं नंगे पैर चलता हूँ।"

श्री जेठूड़ी जी ने फिर पूछा, "अगर मैं तुम्हारे लिए चप्पल खरीद दूं तो पहनोगे?" लड़का तुरंत हाँ कहकर उन्हें पास की दुकान ले गया, जहाँ श्री जेठूड़ी जी ने उसके लिए एक जोड़ी चप्पल खरीदी। चप्पल पहनकर जब वह दौड़ता हुआ गया तो उसकी खुशी देखते ही बनती थी, मानो श्री जेठूड़ी जी ने उसे करोड़ों का उपहार दे दिया हो।

श्री जेठूड़ी जी को बहुत खुशी हुई और उन्होंने इस अनुभव को साझा करने की सोची, ताकि और लोग भी अपने आसपास जरूरतमंदों की मदद करें और आत्म-संतुष्टि का अनोखा एहसास महसूस करें।

The poor family's home is in a dilapidated condition, and they are making efforts to repair it, but they do not have enough money for the necessary renovations. 

In response to the family's appeal for help, the organization transferred *₹15,000 to Babita's account*. We wish the family well and hope for a bright future for them.

Like every year, in 2023, the *Samoon Foundation* launched tree planting programs in various locations under its banner to celebrate the famous folk festival *'Harela'* in *'Devbhumi' Uttarakhand*. The campaign began on *July 23* from the village of *Manjoli in Tehri Garhwal*.

The Samoon Foundation team initiated the program by planting a *belpatra sapling* in the courtyard of *Maa Surkanda*. Along with this, *125 fruit and grass plants* were planted in village *Panchayat Manjoli* under the program *'Our Connection with Trees'*, marking the beginning of the goal to plant *1,000 saplings*.

Villagers planted the saplings provided by the organization on their private land and committed to caring for these plants until they grow into trees.

The program was inaugurated by *Anganwadi worker Mrs. Haripriya Jardhari*, who raised awareness among the villagers about the importance of trees and their care.

हर साल की तरह 2023 में भी *समून फाउंडेशन* ने *'देवभूमि' उत्तराखंड* के प्रसिद्ध लोक पर्व *'हरेला'* के उपलक्ष्य में अपने बैनर तले विभिन्न स्थानों पर वृक्षारोपण कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए। इस अभियान की शुरुआत *23 जुलाई* को *टिहरी गढ़वाल के गांव मंजोली* से हुई।

समून फाउंडेशन की टीम ने कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत *माँ सुरकंडा* के प्रांगण में *बेलपत्र का पौधा* रोपित करके की। इसके साथ ही *'हमारा पेड़ों से नाता'* कार्यक्रम के तहत ग्राम *पंचायत मंजोली* में *125 फलदार और घास के पौधे* लगाए गए, जिससे *1,000 पौधे लगाने* के लक्ष्य की शुरुआत हुई।

ग्रामवासियों ने संगठन द्वारा दिए गए पौधों को अपनी निजी भूमि पर लगाया और इन पौधों की तब तक देखभाल करने का संकल्प लिया जब तक ये बड़े पेड़ न बन जाएं।

In *Kathud Village, Patti Sitonsyun, block and district Kot, Pauri Garhwal*, *Vikas Kumar* was working as a driver while living in a rented room in Rishikesh, supporting his family. On *March 3, 2023*, while returning from Gadankhal after dropping off passengers, his vehicle lost control and fell into a deep gorge. 

Thankfully, Vikas survived, but he suffered fractures in both legs. For three months, he was confined to bed at home. His wife is *Mrs. Neema Devi*, and they have two children. 

The family's financial situation became so dire that Vikas did not have money for treatment, there was no ration at home for food, and his daughter's name was removed from school due to non-payment of fees, leaving her at home. They had not paid rent for their room for a long time. 

On *June 20, 2023*, a request was made to honorable members of the community and the general public for help for the family.

The *Samoon family* delivered two months' worth of rations to Vikas's family at their home and assured them that additional support would soon be provided for expenses such as their daughter's admission, room rent, and medical costs.

*Pihu* was very happy to go back to school. Her father, Vikas Kumar, had suffered fractures in both legs due to a road accident and had been bedridden for three months. The *Samoon Foundation* team took immediate action by re-registering Pihu at school, paying the outstanding fees, and covering the advance fees for the next year. 

They also provided a cheque for *₹11,000* for Vikas's medications and delivered two months' worth of rations, assuring the family of continued support in every possible way.

The Samoon family has been playing a leading role in social work in Uttarakhand for several years, made possible through donations from its esteemed members. For Pihu's family, the Samoon Foundation received a donation of *₹20,000*, which includes *₹10,000 from Arvind Ji in Dubai* and *₹5,000 from Ajay Rawat Ji in Pipalkoti*.

*पौड़ी गढ़वाल जिले के कोट ब्लॉक के पट्टी सिटोंस्यु स्थित ग्राम कथुड* निवासी *विकास कुमार* ऋषिकेश में किराए के कमरे में रहकर चालक के रूप में काम करते हुए अपने परिवार का भरण-पोषण कर रहे थे। *3 मार्च 2023* को गदनखाल से सवारियों को छोड़कर लौटते समय उनका वाहन अनियंत्रित होकर गहरी खाई में गिर गया।

शुक्र है कि विकास बच गए, लेकिन उनके दोनों पैरों में फ्रैक्चर हो गया। तीन महीने तक वे घर पर बिस्तर पर पड़े रहे। उनकी पत्नी का नाम *श्रीमती नीमा देवी* है और उनके दो बच्चे हैं।

परिवार की आर्थिक स्थिति इतनी खराब हो गई कि विकास के पास इलाज के लिए पैसे नहीं थे, घर में खाने के लिए राशन नहीं था, और फीस न जमा कर पाने के कारण उनकी बेटी का नाम स्कूल से कट गया, जिससे वह घर पर बैठ गई। वे काफी समय से कमरे का किराया भी नहीं दे पाए थे।

*20 जून 2023* को समुदाय के सम्मानित सदस्यों और आम जनता से परिवार के लिए मदद की अपील की गई।

*समून परिवार* ने विकास के घर जाकर उन्हें दो महीने का राशन दिया और आश्वासन दिया कि बेटी के प्रवेश, कमरे के किराए और चिकित्सा खर्चों के लिए जल्द ही अतिरिक्त सहायता प्रदान की जाएगी।

*गुरुवार, 19 जुलाई 2023*

*पिहू* स्कूल वापस जाकर बहुत खुश थी। उसके पिता विकास कुमार को सड़क दुर्घटना में दोनों पैरों में फ्रैक्चर हुआ था और वे तीन महीने से बिस्तर पर थे। *समून फाउंडेशन* की टीम ने तुरंत कार्रवाई करते हुए पिहू का स्कूल में फिर से नामांकन कराया, बकाया फीस जमा की और अगले साल की अग्रिम फीस भी भरी।

इसके साथ ही विकास की दवाओं के लिए *₹11,000* का चेक भी दिया गया और दो महीने का राशन उपलब्ध कराया गया। परिवार को हर संभव तरीके से निरंतर सहयोग का आश्वासन दिया गया।

समून परिवार कई वर्षों से उत्तराखंड में सामाजिक कार्यों में अग्रणी भूमिका निभा रहा है, जो इसके सम्मानित सदस्यों के दान से संभव हो पाया है। पिहू के परिवार के लिए समून फाउंडेशन को *₹20,000* का दान प्राप्त हुआ, जिसमें *दुबई के अरविंद जी से ₹10,000* और *पिपलकोटी के अजय रावत जी से ₹5,000* शामिल हैं।

The *Samoon Foundation* team delivered rations to the *Kailashi family* in their village. 

It is important to note that Kailashi's hands and legs stopped functioning after a fall at school, but thanks to the continuous treatment, there has been improvement. Kailashi's father is also disabled, which has made the family's situation dire; they don't even have money to buy rations. Keeping this in mind, the rations were sent.

The *Samoon Foundation* has also been providing continuous support for Kailashi's treatment – *₹17,000 in February* and *₹20,000 in April*, totalling *₹37,000* in financial assistance so far.

यह बताना महत्वपूर्ण है कि स्कूल में गिरने के बाद कैलाशी के हाथ और पैर काम करना बंद हो गए थे, लेकिन लगातार इलाज के कारण अब उनमें सुधार हुआ है। कैलाशी के पिता भी दिव्यांग हैं, जिसके कारण परिवार की स्थिति बेहद खराब हो गई है; उनके पास राशन खरीदने के लिए भी पैसे नहीं हैं। इसी को ध्यान में रखते हुए राशन भेजा गया।

*समून फाउंडेशन* कैलाशी के इलाज के लिए निरंतर सहायता भी कर रहा है – *फरवरी में ₹17,000* और *अप्रैल में ₹20,000*, इस प्रकार अब तक कुल *₹37,000* की वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान की जा चुकी है।
