Medical Emergency Support – Hemant Singh Bisht

Hemant Singh Bisht was critically injured and fighting for his life in a hospital after a tragic incident. Due to a case of mistaken identity, he was shot by attackers who had allegedly targeted someone else resembling him. At the time of admission, he was on a ventilator and his condition remained extremely critical.

Hemant Singh Bisht, originally from Almora, Uttarakhand, was working in Faridabad, Delhi, where he ran a small roadside eatery to support his family.

In view of his serious medical condition, an appeal was made to the migrant Uttarakhand community living in Delhi and nearby regions to come forward and support him, showing unity and humanity in this difficult time. Supporters were requested to contribute and help save his life, and his family could be contacted through the details mentioned in the appeal letter.

Later updates confirmed that on 30 March 2019, Hemant Singh Bisht was discharged from the hospital and safely returned home after treatment.

हेमंत सिंह बिष्ट एक गंभीर दुर्घटना में गोली लगने के बाद जीवन और मृत्यु के बीच संघर्ष कर रहे थे। बताया गया कि एक सुपारी किलिंग के मामले में गलत पहचान के कारण उन पर हमला किया गया, क्योंकि वे एक अन्य व्यक्ति से मिलते-जुलते थे। अस्पताल में भर्ती के समय वे वेंटिलेटर पर थे और उनकी स्थिति अत्यंत नाजुक बनी हुई थी।

हेमंत सिंह बिष्ट मूल रूप से अल्मोड़ा, उत्तराखंड के निवासी हैं और दिल्ली के फरीदाबाद में एक छोटा ढाबा चलाकर अपने परिवार का भरण-पोषण करते थे।

उनकी गंभीर स्थिति को देखते हुए दिल्ली एवं आसपास के क्षेत्रों में रह रहे प्रवासी उत्तराखंडियों से एकजुट होकर सहयोग करने की अपील की गई, ताकि उन्हें नया जीवन मिल सके।

बाद में प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार दिनांक 30 मार्च 2019 को हेमंत सिंह बिष्ट अस्पताल से डिस्चार्ज होकर सकुशल अपने घर लौट आए।

Continuing its commitment to support meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds, Samoon Foundation successfully organized the Second Phase of the Scholarship Distribution Program on 16 March 2019 at its office in Shyampur, Rishikesh.

During this phase:

• A total of 10 selected meritorious and underprivileged students were awarded scholarships of ₹3000 per student.

• Earlier, in Phase 1 (25 February 2019), scholarships were distributed to 13 students at Government Degree College, Devprayag.

For students from remote and inaccessible areas of Uttarakhand who were unable to attend the event, scholarship amounts were directly transferred to their bank accounts, ensuring that no deserving student was left behind.

Reflecting on the importance of education, the Hon’ble President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, has emphasized that no child should be left behind due to social or economic barriers. He encouraged every capable individual to support at least one child’s education—whether through school admission, fee payment, or providing books—thus contributing to nation-building.

समूण फाउंडेशन द्वारा मेधावी एवं आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर विद्यार्थियों को सहयोग प्रदान करने के उद्देश्य से छात्रवृत्ति वितरण कार्यक्रम के द्वितीय चरण का सफल आयोजन दिनांक 16 मार्च 2019 को समूण कार्यालय, श्यामपुर (ऋषिकेश) में किया गया।

इस चरण के अंतर्गत:

• 10 चयनित मेधावी एवं निर्धन विद्यार्थियों को ₹3000 प्रति विद्यार्थी के रूप में छात्रवृत्ति प्रदान की गई।

भारत के महामहिम राष्ट्रपति श्री रामनाथ कोविंद जी ने अपने संबोधन में कहा है कि आर्थिक या सामाजिक कारणों से कोई भी बच्चा शिक्षा से वंचित न रहे। उन्होंने सभी नागरिकों से अपील की है कि वे कम से कम एक बच्चे की शिक्षा में सहयोग करें, जिससे राष्ट्र निर्माण में योगदान दिया जा सके।

International Women’s Day is not just about celebrations—it is about truly recognizing the contributions of women, respecting their dignity, supporting their rights, and empowering those who are underprivileged. For Samoon Foundation, the real meaning of this day lies in standing beside such women and making a difference in their lives.

While many organizations celebrated Women’s Day through formal events and stage programs, Samoon Foundation chose a different path. The team traveled to a remote village, Marad (approximately 30–40 km from Devprayag), to meet a differently-abled woman, Manisha, whose life reflects courage amidst extreme hardships.

Manisha lost both her parents at a very young age and has been living in her uncle’s house, which itself is in a fragile condition. Being physically disabled, she is unable to walk properly, yet she earns her livelihood by breaking stones to make gravel and also does stitching work. Due to the absence of a ration card, her disability pension had been stopped for over a year, although it was later reinstated through the efforts of Samoon Foundation.

Despite facing immense challenges—lack of electricity, water, sanitation facilities, and cooking gas—Manisha has never given up. She continues to live with dignity, self-respect, and determination, without ever seeking sympathy or compromising her values. She stands as a true inspiration, showing how resilience and self-belief can overcome even the toughest circumstances.

Samoon Foundation dedicated this Women’s Day to Manisha. The team, represented by member Arvind Jiyal, visited her and provided essential ration and daily-use items to support her immediate needs.

The foundation has also made efforts at the administrative level by approaching local authorities and representatives to ensure she receives government benefits, though more action is still needed. Additionally, a financial assistance of ₹10,000 was committed to be transferred to Manisha’s account before 31 March 2019 to further support her livelihood.

Samoon Foundation remains committed to improving Manisha’s living conditions and continues to work towards ensuring a dignified and secure life for her.

“अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस” केवल उत्सव मनाने का दिन नहीं है, बल्कि महिलाओं के योगदान को सम्मान देने, उनके अधिकारों के लिए खड़े होने और विशेष रूप से अभावग्रस्त महिलाओं के सशक्तिकरण का संकल्प लेने का अवसर है। समूण फाउंडेशन के लिए इस दिवस का वास्तविक अर्थ ऐसे ही जरूरतमंदों के साथ खड़े होकर उनके जीवन में बदलाव लाना है।

जहां एक ओर कई संस्थाएं इस अवसर पर मंचों से कार्यक्रम आयोजित कर रही थीं, वहीं समूण फाउंडेशन की टीम देवप्रयाग से लगभग 30–40 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित ग्राम मराड़ पहुंची, जहां एक दिव्यांग महिला मनीषा से मुलाकात की गई।

मनीषा ने बचपन में ही अपने माता-पिता को खो दिया था और वर्तमान में अपने चाचा के जर्जर मकान में रह रही हैं। शारीरिक रूप से अक्षम होने के बावजूद वह पत्थर तोड़कर रोड़ी-बजरी बनाकर और सिलाई का कार्य करके अपना जीवन यापन कर रही हैं। राशन कार्ड न होने के कारण उनकी विकलांगता पेंशन भी डेढ़ वर्ष तक बंद रही, जिसे समूण फाउंडेशन के प्रयासों से पुनः शुरू कराया गया।

बिजली, पानी, शौचालय और गैस कनेक्शन जैसी मूलभूत सुविधाओं के अभाव के बावजूद मनीषा ने कभी हार नहीं मानी। उन्होंने अपने आत्मसम्मान और आत्मविश्वास के साथ हर कठिन परिस्थिति का सामना किया है। वास्तव में ऐसी महिलाएं समाज के लिए प्रेरणा का स्रोत हैं।

समूण फाउंडेशन ने इस महिला दिवस को मनीषा को समर्पित करते हुए संस्था के सदस्य अरविंद जियाल के माध्यम से उनसे मुलाकात कर उन्हें पर्याप्त राशन एवं दैनिक उपयोग की सामग्री प्रदान की।

संस्था द्वारा प्रशासनिक स्तर पर भी प्रयास किए गए हैं, ताकि उन्हें सरकारी योजनाओं का लाभ मिल सके। साथ ही उनके जीवन को बेहतर बनाने हेतु ₹10,000 की आर्थिक सहायता 31 मार्च 2019 से पूर्व उनके खाते में स्थानांतरित करने का निर्णय लिया गया।

Samoon Foundation organizes scholarship programs every year to support meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds and conducts career counseling sessions to guide them toward better career choices.

This year, the Scholarship Distribution & Career Counseling Program was successfully organized on 25 February 2019 at Omkarananda Saraswati Government Degree College, Devprayag.

Under this initiative:

• Selected meritorious students were awarded scholarships of ₹3000 per student.

• Out of 18 selected students, 13 students received scholarships from Samoon Foundation, while the remaining 5 students were supported by Ms. Roshani Chamoli.

• Students who secured highest marks in their respective streams in the previous semester were honored with mementos.

The program also included an inspiring career guidance session by Mr. Kamal Kant Singh (Deputy General Manager, BHEL Haridwar), who guided students in making informed and effective career choices.

This scholarship project was planned in two phases:

• Phase 1: Scholarship distribution to college students (completed on 25/02/2019).

• Phase 2: Scholarships for primary, secondary, and intermediate school students will be distributed after April, considering ongoing examinations.

This year, the entire program was dedicated to the brave soldiers martyred in the Pulwama attack, as a mark of respect and gratitude.

Two young sisters, Basu (5 years) and Nisha (2 years), from Village Tyunkhar in Rudraprayag district, have tragically been orphaned at a very tender age. About a year ago, they lost their father, and their mother—who was their only support—has now also passed away after a prolonged illness.

Although their extended family members are trying their best to take care of them, they themselves are extremely poor and struggling to survive. In such difficult conditions, it is becoming increasingly challenging to provide proper care, food, clothing, and a secure future for these young girls. Due to harsh winter conditions and lack of basic necessities like warm clothes, footwear, and adequate nutrition, their situation had become extremely distressing.

As soon as Samoon Foundation learned about their condition through newspapers and social media, the team immediately visited their village with essential ration supplies. Upon assessment, it was decided in coordination with local authorities that the children would be shifted to a children’s home (Shishu Niketan, Dehradun), where they can receive proper care and protection.

In the presence of administrative officials including the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Rudraprayag, local police authorities, and Child Welfare representatives, Samoon Foundation member Kamal Joshi ensured the provision of ration and also took responsibility for arranging food support until their transition to the children’s home.

While immediate relief has been provided, the long-term well-being of these children depends on finding a loving and capable family. Therefore, Samoon Foundation appeals to all kind-hearted individuals:

*अनाथ बालिकाओं हेतु सहायता एवं गोद लेने की अपील*

*स्थान: ग्राम त्यूंखर, जिला रुद्रप्रयाग, उत्तराखंड*

ग्राम त्यूंखर, जिला रुद्रप्रयाग की दो नन्हीं बेटियां – बसु (5 वर्ष) एवं निशा (2 वर्ष) – बहुत ही कम उम्र में अनाथ हो गई हैं। लगभग एक वर्ष पहले इनके पिता का निधन हो गया था और अब लम्बी बीमारी के बाद इनकी माता का भी देहांत हो गया, जो इनका एकमात्र सहारा थीं।

हालांकि इनके चाचा-ताऊ और अन्य रिश्तेदार इनकी देखभाल करने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं, लेकिन वे स्वयं अत्यंत गरीब एवं अभावग्रस्त हैं। ऐसे में इन बच्चियों के लालन-पालन, भोजन, कपड़े और सुरक्षित भविष्य की व्यवस्था करना अत्यंत कठिन हो गया है। कड़ाके की ठंड में गर्म कपड़ों, जूतों और पर्याप्त भोजन के अभाव में इनकी स्थिति अत्यंत दयनीय हो गई थी।
