Dressing for Success –Samoon Foundation’s Uniform Distribution Drive for Educational Equity

On July 5, 2024, the Samoon Foundation took a meaningful stride toward educational equity

with the launch of Phase 1 of its school uniform distribution campaign. The initiative began

at Swami Shivanand Memorial Government Primary School, located in Muni Ki Reti, where

sports uniforms were distributed to students. This eff ort marks the beginning of a

broader mission to support 2,000 economically disadvantaged yet high- achieving students

across multiple schools.





These uniforms represent more than just attire— they serve as symbols of inclusion and

equality, helping to eliminate visible socio- economic disparities, boost student confidence, and

foster commitment to academic pursuits. By addressing such a practical yet impactful

need, the campaign enhances both dignity and morale in the school environment.

Mrs. Rajni Mangai, Headmistress of the school, expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting

that the initiative not only uplifts students’ spirits but also off ers much- needed financial

relief to their families. W ith the active engagement of its volunteers and staff , the

Samoon Foundation has once again demonstrated its enduring dedication to student

empowerment and community upliftment.

This ongoing program affirms the Foundation’s belief that every child deserves the

resources to succeed, and that even a simple school uniform can be the first step

toward a brighter, more equitable future.

A Warm Embrace –Samoon Foundation’s Annual Clothing Drive in Rishikesh

As the monsoon clouds gathered over Rishikesh on June 24, 2024, the Samoon Foundation

once again extended a gesture of compassion through its Annual Clothing Distribution

Campaign. More than 200 clothing items— including shirts, t-shirts, and kurtas— were

thoughtfully distributed to underprivileged families and individuals, off ering timely relief

and a sense of dignity ahead of the rainy season.



The initiative was rooted in the Foundation’s core belief that even small acts of service

can make a significant impact. 

Vinod Jethudi, Founder of Samoon Foundation,reflected this ethos, stating,

“We may not be able to help everyone, but we can certainly try to help some.” 

These words encapsulate the spirit behind the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to address the daily struggles of the underserved.



This annual campaign, executed through the dedication of Samoon’s committed team,

Stitching a Future –Launch of Samoon Foundation’s 11 th Skill Development Center in Soud Village

Date – Monday, 24 June 2024

Marking 14 years of dedicated service to women’s empowerment in Uttarakhand, the

Samoon Foundation reached a new milestone with the inauguration of its 11th Free Sewing

and Knitting Training Center (SSDC11) on June 24, 2024, in Soud Village, Tehri Garhwal. More

than just a facility, SSDC11 is envisioned as a catalyst for transformation— off ering rural

women the tools and training necessary to become economically self- reliant


Continuing the legacy of its earlier centers, SSDC1 1 focuses on sewing and knitting skill

development, aiming to uplift women by opening pathways to livelihood generation and

entrepreneurship. During the event, Regional Manager Vijendra Kumar emphasized the

Foundation’s broader footprint in the region, which includes initiatives in computer

literacy, academic coaching, and health services. This integrated model highlights

Samoon’s vision of holistic community empowerment, reaching hundreds of women, girls, and students across rural Uttarakhand.The response from Soud Village was overwhelmingly positive.

 



The center’s inauguration, led by Mr. Prahlad Singh Jethudi, drew a large turnout of local women, young girls, and community leaders, all expressing sincere appreciation for this much- needed resource.

 Mr. Jagmohan Singh Jethudi, speaking on behalf of the community, off ered

heartfelt thanks for the Foundation’s timely and meaningful intervention.

W ith SSDC11 , the Samoon Foundation continues to reinforce its belief that empowered

Paving the Way for Futures –Inauguration of Samoon Foundation’s 2nd Excellence Coaching Center

Continuing its mission to democratize access to quality education, the Samoon

Foundation inaugurated its 2nd Samoon Excellence Coaching Center on June 2, 2024, in

Mankatiya, Pithoragarh. This newly established center serves as a lifeline for

underprivileged yet high- potential students from surrounding villages, off ering free coaching

and academic guidance to help them succeed in competitive exams and unlock

opportunities for a better future.

The inauguration event was a spirited assembly of community leaders, residents, and

educators, all bound by a shared belief in the power of education. Mr. Mahesh Punetha,the Chief Guest, delivered an inspiring address, stressing the foundational role of

education in shaping society. He commended the Samoon Foundation for its unwavering

eff orts to level the playing field for rural students. His sentiments were echoed by

other Special Guests and attendees, who unanimously recognized the center as a

transformative initiative for the region.

One of the most moving moments came when students expressed their heartfelt gratitude, sharing how this opportunity would dramatically reshape their academic paths and future prospects.

Threads of Empowerment –Launch of Samoon Foundation’s 10th Sewing & Knitting Center in Rudraprayag

For over 14 years, the Samoon Foundation has stood as a steadfast advocate forwomen’s empowerment in Uttarakhand. This enduring commitment took a vibrant

leap forward on May 21,2024, with the inauguration of the 10th Free Sewing and Knitting

Training Center (SSDC10) in Agastyamuni, Rudraprayag. More than just a facility, SSDC1 0

represents a sanctuary of opportunity— designed to equip rural women with essential

skills in sewing and knitting, paving the way for economic independence and self- reliance.

The event was not only a celebration of a new center but also a recognition of female

changemakers through the prestigious Samoon Samman Awards. Among the honorees, Dr.

Geeta Nautiyal was awarded the Education Excellence Award for her unwavering

commitment to teaching. Kamla Dewasali received the Entrepreneur Excellence Award for

her innovative work in dairy farming. The Community Development Award was jointly

conferred on Kamla Negi and Nageshwari Devi, whose sewing centers have created

meaningful local employment. Madhuri Negi, a driving force behind the Veerangna

Women Organization, was honored with the Nari Shakti Award for her exemplary

leadership. These recognitions served as powerful symbols of what women can

achieve when given the right platform and support.






The inauguration, graced by Dr. Geeta Nautiyal as the Chief Guest and attended by key

community leaders and Samoon Foundation members, reflected a collective

commitment to grassroots development. The presence of social activists and

enthusiastic local women further underscored the urgency and relevance of skill-

building initiatives like SSDC10. As a growing network of empowerment hubs, this new

center reinforces the Foundation’s mission: to build a prosperous Uttarakhand, one skilled

and confident woman at a time.
