Rooted in Tradition –Samoon Students Celebrate Harela with Tree Plantation in Tehri Garhwal

 Date – Tuesday, 16 July 2024

On July 16, 2024, in the lush hills of Sauda village, Tehri Garhwal, students from the Samoon

Computer Training Institute and Samoon Excellence Coaching Center came together to

celebrate Harela, Uttarakhand’s beloved festival of greenery and renewal. Their

celebration took the form of a tree plantation drive, echoing the festival’s essence of

environmental preservation and reverence for nature.

a

Under the thoughtful guidance of Vijendra Kumar, Director of the center, students

didn’t just learn about the ecological significance of trees— they took tangible action.

W ith saplings in hand and a sense of purpose in their hearts, they planted trees to

honor both the tradition of Harela and their commitment to sustainability. The event

was both symbolic and practical: a living tribute to the region’s ancestral wisdom and a

call to protect the environment for future generations.

This hands- on activity not only connected students with the cultural roots of Harela

but also deepened their sense of environmental responsibility. Through such initiatives,

the Samoon Foundation is nurturing more than academic and vocational skills— it is

shaping future citizens who are mindful stewards of their natural heritage. This

celebration marked a powerful blend of tradition and action, reinforcing the idea that

festivals can be platforms for real, lasting impact.
