A small assistance amount of ₹16,000 has been transferred to the account of Mrs. Indu Devi, the wife of the late Gautam Bhandari Ji, who lost his life in a natural disaster.

Date: Monday, September 4, 2023

Gautam Singh Bhandari, a resident of village Badal, Tehri Garhwal, was working as a cook at a rafting camp when a sudden flood caused by a cloudburst swept him away while he was cooking on August 7. Some of his colleagues managed to save themselves, but Gautam did not get a chance to escape and fell victim to this calamity. After extensive searching, his body was found stuck in a tree about one and a half kilometers away.

Gautam Bhandari Ji leaves behind his wife and an innocent two-and-a-half-year-old son. The family now faces overwhelming challenges and worries about their future. Mr. Hukam Singh Bhandari, the former head of the village, has sent a request for help to the Samoon Foundation.

We appeal to all those who can extend their support to the family according to their means.

The Samoon team delivered three months' worth of rations and a box to Ramdhan Ji, who lives in a hut in the forest.

 Date: Friday, August 18, 2023

Ramdhan Ji, a resident of village Tat, Rudraprayag, is 72-years-old and has no children or family. He lives alone in a small hut in the middle of the forest with his buffalo. Ramdhan Ji mentioned that repairing his house wouldn’t be of much use, but if he could get a box to store his food supplies, it would be a great help, as wild animals like monkeys, rats, and cats often eat whatever food he has.

The Samoon team took immediate action on Ramdhan Ji's request and delivered a box along with rations for the next 2-3 months to his home.

Mr. Vinod Singh Jethudi, the founder of Samoon, bought sandals for a poor boy walking barefoot.

Date: Saturday, August 5, 2023

While leaving for some work in Rishikesh, founder Mr. Vinod Singh Jethudi noticed a little boy walking barefoot in the pouring rain, struggling to walk. He called out, "Hey little one, what's wrong? Why are you walking like that?" The boy turned around and stopped. When Mr. Jethudi approached him, the boy explained that small stones on the road were hurting his feet.

Mr. Jethudi asked, "Why aren’t you wearing sandals?" The boy replied, "I don’t have money to buy sandals. After my father's death, my mother barely earns enough to buy groceries, so I walk without them." Mr. Jethudi then asked, "If I buy you sandals, will you wear them?" The boy quickly said yes and led him to a nearby shop, where Mr. Jethudi bought him a pair of sandals. As the boy ran off wearing them, his joy was palpable, as if Mr. Jethudi had given him a precious gift worth millions.

Mr. Jethudi felt a deep sense of happiness and wanted to share this experience, hoping others would also help those in need around them and feel a unique sense of self- satisfaction.

Outside Medanta in Gurugram, Samoon's founder Mr. Vinod Singh provided breakfast to two children who were polishing shoes.

Date Thursday, July 19, 2023

Outside Medanta in Gurugram, Samoon's founder, Mr. Vinod Singh, was having breakfast when two young boys approached him, asking, "Sir, can you get your shoes polished?" Mr. Vinod Singh replied, "I don't need my shoes polished, but would you like some breakfast?" The boys said they didn't want breakfast but asked for flour, explaining that they had an elderly grandmother at home for whom they would make bread.

Mr. Vinod Singh asked where their parents were, and the boys replied that their parents had left them with their grandmother and that they lived in a makeshift hut, taking care of her. Mr. Vinod Singh was compelled to reflect on how any parent could leave their children behind.

He invited the boys to have breakfast with him and then took them to a nearby store where he provided them with the necessary rations. After that, he booked an auto to take them home. The boys invited Mr. Vinod Singh to their hut for a meal, but due to his busy schedule, he couldn't go, although he genuinely wished he could.

The brief encounter felt like a long-standing connection with the children, and their faces radiated joy and peace. Moments like these remind us to share small joys with others, and believe me, the inner happiness you receive cannot be expressed in words.

the Samoon Foundation organized a cleanliness awareness rally and Ganga cleaning drive in Rishikesh. The rally began from Koyal Valley, passed through AIIMS Road, and ended on Bairaj Road. Following the rally, the banks of the river (ghats) were cleaned along Marine Drive (Aastha Path).

Under India's presidency of the G20, the principle of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family) reflects the essence of Indian culture, which encompasses the welfare of all living beings. Indian culture is renowned for its emphasis on charity and service, teaching us the values of compassion, empathy, and respect for all, and inspiring us to live in peace and harmony.

C20 India 2023 is one of the official engagement groups of the G20, aimed at inspiring people selflessly for social causes and providing a platform for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) across G20 countries.

Under the banner of C20, the Samoon Foundation is preparing to organize a cleanliness awareness rally in Rishikesh on June 18, 2023, Sunday, from 8 AM to 12 PM. The rally will start from Koyal Valley, passing through AIIMS Road, and ending at Bairaj Road. Following the rally, there will be a cleaning drive along the riverbanks at Marine Drive (Aastha Path). Preparations and outreach efforts are underway to involve as many members as possible.

Under the G20, the C20 engagement group organized by the Samoon Foundation held a cleanliness awareness rally and Ganga cleaning drive on June 18, 2023, Sunday, from 8 AM to 12 PM in Rishikesh. The rally commenced from Koyal Valley, passed through AIIMS Road,

and concluded at Bairaj Road. Subsequently, there was a cleaning drive along the riverbanks (ghats) at Marine Drive (Aastha Path). Members of the Samoon Foundation team, including Jitendra Jardhari, Kamal Joshi, Vikram Shah, Sita Payal, Surendra Singh Negi, Shanti Prasad Joshi, Rajeshwari Devi, as well as the Rishikesh Municipal Corporation team, UPES University students, local residents, and social workers participated in the event.

The Ganga is not just a river but a glorious symbol of Indian culture. Known by 108 names such as Devnadi, Jahnavi, Vishnupada, and Shivshishdharini, the Ganga was once revered as a sacred river with water considered as “amrit’ (nectar) . However, today, the Ganga’s water is not even fit for drinking. Factories, rivers, drains, and urban waste have polluted the Ganga, and its contamination is increasing day by day.

It is the responsibility of all citizens to collectively maintain cleanliness in our homes, villages, streets, neighborhoods, cities, and workplaces, and to keep the Ganga flowing from our cities clean. This will help present our country as an ideal nation to the world.

By raising awareness about the Swachh Bharat Mission along with the Ganga cleaning campaign, we can certainly protect the Ganga’s water from further contamination. This is why we named the campaign "Swachh Bharat Ki Pavitra Ganga" (Clean India’s Sacred Ganga). When the Ganga, flowing with a melodious sound from the mountains, enters the cities, it loses its purity and changes its form. Rishikesh is the first city where the Ganga meets the city, which is why we chose to conduct this cleanliness awareness rally and Ganga cleaning drive in Rishikesh. Through this cleanliness awareness rally and Ganga cleaning drive, the aim was to raise awareness among people about cleanliness and the importance of cleaning the Ganga, encouraging them to avoid polluting the Ganga and to contribute to making their city clean and beautiful.
