Samoon Foundation appeals for support for Smt. Rajni Devi Ji, who has been facing severe hardships while raising her three children alone.

Rajni Devi Ji got married at the young age of 16, and unfortunately lost her husband at the age of 21. Since then, she has been taking care of her three children by doing daily wage labour in her village. Despite many challenges, she has been fulfilling her responsibilities with courage and determination.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, employment opportunities in the village have reduced significantly. As a result, Rajni Ji is currently unable to arrange sufficient food for herself and her children. She also has an outstanding debt of approximately ₹8,000 at the local shop for groceries and vegetables.

Rajni Ji informed that she has an APL (Above Poverty Line) ration card, due to which she does not receive government ration benefits. Despite repeated efforts, she has been unable to get a BPL (Below Poverty Line) ration card.

The condition of the house where Rajni Ji lives is also very poor. During the rainy season, she has to shift to her maternal home with her children because rainwater enters the entire house. Due to the absence of a toilet facility, the children are forced to go into the forest for sanitation, where there is also a risk from wild animals.

Rajni Ji shares that her children often ask for milk, but due to financial difficulties and lack of space, she is unable to keep a cow or purchase milk regularly.

Samoon Foundation is making every possible effort to ensure that Rajni Ji and her children do not face a shortage of food. The Devprayag team will provide one month’s ration to the family within the next few days, and further efforts will continue for their better living conditions.

समूण फाउंडेशन द्वारा श्रीमती रजनी देवी जी एवं उनके तीन बच्चों की सहायता हेतु सहयोग की अपील की जाती है। रजनी देवी जी कठिन परिस्थितियों में अकेले अपने बच्चों का पालन-पोषण कर रही हैं।

मात्र 16 वर्ष की आयु में विवाह और 21 वर्ष की उम्र में जीवनसाथी को खोने के बाद रजनी देवी जी के ऊपर तीन बच्चों के पालन-पोषण की जिम्मेदारी आ गई। गांव में दिहाड़ी मजदूरी करके वे अपने बच्चों की जरूरतें पूरी करने का प्रयास कर रही थीं।

कोरोना महामारी के कारण गांव में काम मिलना बंद हो गया है, जिससे रजनी जी के लिए स्वयं और अपने तीनों बच्चों के लिए पर्याप्त भोजन की व्यवस्था करना भी कठिन हो गया है। वर्तमान में रणाकोट की दुकान पर राशन एवं सब्जी का लगभग ₹8,000/- का उधार हो चुका है।

रजनी जी बताती हैं कि उनका APL (गरीबी रेखा से ऊपर) राशन कार्ड होने के कारण उन्हें सरकारी राशन का लाभ नहीं मिल पाता। उन्होंने BPL राशन कार्ड बनवाने के लिए काफी प्रयास किए, लेकिन सफलता नहीं मिल पाई।

रजनी जी जिस घर में रहती हैं उसकी स्थिति भी अत्यंत खराब है। बरसात के समय पूरा घर पानी से भर जाता है, जिसके कारण उन्हें अपने बच्चों के साथ मायके जाना पड़ता है। घर में शौचालय की सुविधा न होने के कारण बच्चों को जंगल में शौच के लिए जाना पड़ता है, जहां जंगली जानवरों का खतरा बना रहता है।

रजनी जी बताती हैं कि बच्चे दूध मांगते हैं, लेकिन आर्थिक स्थिति कमजोर होने के कारण वे न तो गाय पाल सकती हैं और न ही नियमित रूप से दूध खरीद सकती हैं।

समूण परिवार का प्रयास है कि रजनी जी एवं उनके बच्चों को भोजन की कमी न हो। इसी क्रम में देवप्रयाग टीम द्वारा अगले 1-2 दिनों में परिवार के लिए एक महीने का राशन पहुंचाया जाएगा और आगे भी उनके बेहतर जीवन यापन के लिए हर संभव प्रयास किए जाएंगे।
