During the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of migrant workers were forced to return to their homes on foot due to loss of jobs and lack of financial resources.
In this context, Samoon Foundation extended support to a group of Nepali migrant workers who were walking from Himachal Pradesh towards Nepal. On 23 May, 2020, near Dehradun, the Samoon Foundation team arranged refreshments for them during the day and provided proper meals at night.
These workers had decided to travel on foot as they were not receiving wages from their workplaces and were facing extreme difficulty in sustaining themselves.
Understanding their situation, Samoon Foundation continues to provide food and ration support to such migrant workers across different parts of Uttarakhand.

COVID-19 महामारी के दौरान अनेक प्रवासी मजदूरों को रोजगार न मिलने और आर्थिक संकट के कारण पैदल ही अपने घरों की ओर लौटने के लिए मजबूर होना पड़ा।
इसी क्रम में हिमाचल प्रदेश से नेपाल की ओर पैदल जा रहे नेपाली मजदूरों को समूण फाउंडेशन की टीम द्वारा दिनांक 23 मई 2020 को देहरादून के समीप दिन में जलपान एवं रात्रि में भोजन उपलब्ध कराया गया।
ये मजदूर जिस स्थान पर कार्यरत थे वहां उन्हें वेतन नहीं मिल रहा था, जिसके कारण उनके सामने जीवन यापन की गंभीर समस्या उत्पन्न हो गई थी और इसी वजह से उन्होंने पैदल ही अपने घर लौटने का निर्णय लिया।
समूण फाउंडेशन उत्तराखंड के विभिन्न स्थानों पर ऐसे प्रवासी मजदूरों को निरंतर राशन एवं भोजन उपलब्ध कराने का कार्य कर रहा है।
