Samoon Foundation Helped Prevent Child Marriage and Protected a Minor Girl’s Future

Samoon Foundation has always remained committed to protecting the rights, dignity, and future of vulnerable individuals, especially children. On 4th December 2021, a serious matter involving a minor girl from a remote village in Rudraprayag district came to the attention of senior Samoon Foundation member Mr. Kamal Joshi Ji.

According to the information received, a minor girl was allegedly being forced into marriage against her wishes. It was reported that the girl’s father was attempting to arrange her marriage with a mentally challenged person due to personal interests, despite the girl not wanting to marry. The marriage was scheduled for 12th December 2021, and preparations had already begun, leaving very little time to intervene.

The informant shared call recordings between the girl and her relatives, where the girl clearly expressed that she was a minor and was being pressured into the marriage.

Understanding the seriousness of the situation, Mr. Kamal Joshi Ji immediately informed the concerned child protection authorities and the Child Welfare Committee. Later, he contacted Mrs. Ranjana Garola Bhatt Ji, Administrator of the One Stop Centre under the Women Empowerment and Child Development Department, Rudraprayag.

After reviewing the matter, Mrs. Ranjana Ji immediately sent a team to the village for investigation. During the inquiry, the girl was confirmed to be a minor. The family of the proposed groom was also called for verification. However, despite repeated requests, the groom’s father did not bring the groom before the officials. Even a proposal to present the groom through video call was refused, raising further concerns about the situation.

During the investigation, the girl shared that she had never properly met or spoken with the proposed groom and that the engagement had been arranged without her consent. Her statements made it clear that she was being pressured into a marriage without understanding or acceptance.

After the girl’s age and statements were verified, the groom’s family agreed to cancel the marriage. In the presence of the village head and local residents, the engagement-related items were returned, and the girl was safely placed under the care of her maternal uncle and aunt, where she would continue her education.

समूण फाउंडेशन सदैव मानवता, बाल अधिकारों एवं जरूरतमंदों के संरक्षण के लिए समर्पित रहा है। इसी क्रम में दिनांक 04 दिसंबर 2021 को समूण फाउंडेशन के वरिष्ठ सदस्य श्री कमल जोशी जी को जनपद रुद्रप्रयाग के एक दूरस्थ गांव से एक अत्यंत गंभीर मामला प्राप्त हुआ।

जानकारी मिली कि एक नाबालिग बालिका का विवाह उसकी इच्छा के विरुद्ध जबरन एक मानसिक रूप से अस्वस्थ व्यक्ति के साथ तय किया जा रहा था। बताया गया कि बालिका इस विवाह के लिए तैयार नहीं थी, लेकिन पारिवारिक दबाव के कारण वह मजबूर हो रही थी। विवाह की तिथि 12/12/2021 तय थी और तैयारियां भी लगभग पूरी हो चुकी थीं।

सूचना की पुष्टि के लिए बालिका एवं उसके रिश्तेदार के बीच हुई बातचीत की रिकॉर्डिंग प्राप्त हुई, जिसमें बालिका स्वयं के नाबालिग होने और जबरन विवाह के लिए दबाव बनाए जाने की बात स्पष्ट रूप से कह रही थी।

मामले की गंभीरता को देखते हुए श्री कमल जोशी जी ने तत्काल बाल संरक्षण विभाग एवं चाइल्ड वेलफेयर कमेटी को इसकी सूचना दी। इसके बाद उन्होंने महिला सशक्तिकरण एवं बाल विकास विभाग रुद्रप्रयाग के अंतर्गत महिला सहायता वन स्टॉप सेंटर की केंद्र प्रशासक श्रीमती रंजना गैरोला भट्ट जी से संपर्क किया।

मामले की गंभीरता को समझते हुए श्रीमती रंजना जी ने तुरंत अपनी टीम को बालिका के गांव भेजा। जांच में बालिका नाबालिग पाई गई। लड़के पक्ष को भी जांच के लिए बुलाया गया, लेकिन लड़के के पिता बिना लड़के के ही पहुंचे। लड़के को वीडियो कॉल के माध्यम से प्रस्तुत करने का प्रयास भी किया गया, लेकिन वे इसके लिए भी तैयार नहीं हुए।

जांच के दौरान बालिका ने बताया कि उसे जंगल में घास काटते समय दूर से एक व्यक्ति दिखाकर उसका होने वाला पति बताया गया था। इसके बाद बिना लड़के को सामने लाए ही सगाई कर दी गई। बालिका के बयानों से स्पष्ट हुआ कि उसके साथ एक बड़ा अन्याय होने जा रहा था।

बालिका के नाबालिग होने और उसके द्वारा जबरन विवाह करवाने की बात कहे जाने के बाद लड़के पक्ष ने विवाह रद्द करने पर सहमति जताई। ग्राम प्रधान एवं ग्रामीणों की उपस्थिति में सगाई में दिया गया सामान वापस किया गया और बालिका को सुरक्षित रूप से उसके मामा-मामी के संरक्षण में भेज दिया गया, जहां वह आगे अपनी पढ़ाई जारी रखेगी।
